DIY Highway Maintenance

I had the opportunity to take a picture of that bridge project today. Like I said, it looks pretty solid, but there's no telling who actually did it, or what kind of engineering background they have.

The owner of the restaurant across the street likes to talk about how he put in the other one-lane bridge on this street. Not that he did it personally, but he had it done years ago. Actually, I should take a picture of that one too. We drive over it every day with never a thought, but in point of fact...it's a little scary.

As for the new bit on this other bridge, as well buttressed as it appears to be below decks, if you look at the two ends of it, it doesn't actually meld into the roadway, so I'm assuming it's mainly intended for foot traffic.
