Tis the season
Rita invited three of us expats over for a day of quilting and eating. What could be better?
As a Christmas present, she had the pattern and materials for us to make a Christmas wall hanging. We all used the same 10 neutral fabrics for the background, and each of us chose our own tree and border colors.
You know, I consider myself fairly liberal and creative, both. But I gotta say, I was the only one of the four of us whose tree was green.

That is a beautiful quilt pattern. So modern and creative! I love it. Especially the swirl pattern in the fabric you used for the tree and the way the tree is held together. It is gorgeous.
I'm sorry. I'm back. I just really love that quilt. How big is it?
And this might sound inappropriate, so please excuse me if it is, but do you ever sell any of your quilts?
It's umm...(measuremeasuremeasure)
16 x 22 inches (40 x 55 cm)
It's never inappropriate to tell an artist you like her work enough to wonder what it might be worth! :)
But no, I've never sold one. I've had the thought before - and even an offer which, I'm ashamed to say, has languished for...jeepers, must be going on a year now. (It was/is a commission for a piece of my own design. I guess I got quilter's block.)
I would like to support myself through quilting, but the most practical way to do that, I think, is with the retreat. Partly because of my nature (deadline oriented is less of an asset for an independent artist), and partly because I can actually make a living wage with a reasonable amount of work - if we had a steady stream of reservations, that is.
If you ship internationally, I'm interested. I'd love this pattern, only larger and maybe brighter colors in the background....for next Christmas!
Okay sister, listen up.
See, if you would like to support yourself through quilting, and somebody says hey! Do you sell those? Then the answer, quite simply, is Why yes, yes I do! (Especially if it's something simple that can be made, say, while klatching coffee.)
And if it's deadlines you need...I got 'em!!! Here's one: February 5th. Have everything done by February 5th! :)
