Today in things that make me want to look at a map to see if perhaps San Rafael lies on a direct line between Panama and Honduras
We've had rather more US Army AH-64 Apache* attack helicopters flying directly over the house this week than you usually see in a quiet suburb of Heredia.
* Or possibly AH-1 Cobras, which is Bob's theory.

I know we're not on a direct line between Panama and Honduras, and we had low-flying military helicopters flying over the house yesterday. Or the day before? We could probably build a pretty good conspiracy theory here.
Might Costa Rica be a link to a jumping off point for Colombia/Venezuela?
On an Amerocentric map, you guys look pretty close.
Costa Rica might be any number of things, that's for sure.
However, in this case we live on the northern edge of the central valley (where all major cities and everything that's anything is located) and the flyovers we've had this week (and while there have been, as I say, more than usual, this is not the first time) are always heading north-ish and/or west-ish, away from cities and over the mountains.
Unless they're heading for rural Costa Rica (ie, have some sort of base there), the only thing located in any way north of here is two oceans and Nicaragua and, beyond that, the rest of Central America.
helicopters tend to fly over islands. that's all i'm saying.
