That's 8-inch tile

I keep talking about how we found this Big-Ass Spider, and then the cat killed Big-Ass Spiders numbers two and three (okay, #3 was smaller). Well, this is what I mean by that:

I'm so sad to have left those kinds of spiders behind in the Mojave. We had one about that size on our bedroom ceiling one night! It was removed before bed. We didn't have a handy cat to catch/kill them, so it was a large tupperware and thin cardboard for us.

Wow, that's a big-ass spider!

I have one in my bathroom with a 2mm abdomen at best, and I pitch him (or her, you know) flies which I catch. It's amazing to watch him subdue and dispatch creatures which are many times its size.

This, of course, weighs heavily on me as I consider the relative size of this specimen.

My hat's off to any cat who can guarantee me a good night's sleep!

That surely is a big spider. The biggest I ever saw was on the back of a door in a public rest room in New Zealand. It had a bigger body than the one in your picture and probably when you included the legs it would have taken up at least half of that 8 inch tile. I didn't notice it till I had, um, sat down. Luckily it didn't move while I was in there!
